"I'm definitely relieved that we'll have him back," Head Coach Michael Curry said.
McDyess was part of the four-player trade with Denver that landed the Pistons Allen Iverson, and sent Chauncey Billups, McDyess and Cheikh Samb to Denver. McDyess didn't want to play for Denver, so his agent Andy Miller worked out a buyout with the Nuggets to make McDyess a free agent.
McDyess could have signed immediately with any team except Detroit if he choose to, he had such potential suitors as Cleveland and Boston. Thankfully enough, Antonio has decided to return to the only team he has a desire to play for, the Detroit Pistons. League rules stipulate that McDyess has to wait at least 30 days after the trade is finalized before he can re-sign with Detroit. The earliest he can be in uniform for the Pistons is Dec. 7 at New York.
